On my 40cc Crafrsman/Poulan chainsaw I cannot pull the starter rope more than a couple of inches, then it locks up. If I remove the muffler, the issue remains. If I remove the sparkplug, the rope pulls easy. There is a considerable amount of fuel in the cylinder, so it might be a hydraulic lock. I blew out the fuel and switched out the carb with a spare I had. The saw ran fine. Two weeks later I went to use it, and the same issue was there, hydraulic lock.
Was the needle valve likely bad on both carbs, causing the massive flooding, or is there another cause I should look for?
