I had Dennis Cahoon make one for my 026 pipe saw years ago. Not sure if he is still doing them but it’s a work of art. Be prepared to drop some $$$.

There’s a guy named John Reilly in south Florida who makes them to order

After farther research, it seems like that John Reilly character has darkened this forum before, and didn’t leave gracefully
That doesn’t mean they ain’t the fastest, it just means caveat emptor…

If you want a race chain that you’ll actually get, hit up Cole @Armbru84, his are fast.

Had a number of john's chains come through the shop over the years and they were nice.
Cole made me a chain for one of my saws, and he was able to tailor it for it, which was pretty sweet.
There's a third way; I've had made for me a fast square grind chain and did all the details myself. Which wasn't that hard to do, just time consuming/repetitive. Which is why race chains cost what they do. Good ones are worth every penny.

Steve they do take a long time.
Start on the classic grinder to take rough shape.
Move to bench to round file all imperfections.
Them lay a nice square grind.
Then set rakers depending on what is to be cut and saw power band.
All in all about 3-4 hours of clean time on a 68 3/8.

Excluding cutting back the teeth.
Excluding equi-distant teeth.
Excluding stoning/resharpening.
Excluding reducing/grinding the rivets.

That would probanly add more time.

All my respects to the pros that do it for living.

I think a good used work chain is a good starting point, when making a race/play chain Yourself.
Cutters are ground back, links are sloppy & free moving, normal wear from bucking wood will show contact/friction areas like rivet heads.
The fastest cutting work chains are always near end of cutter life!

This is not viable when mass making & selling race chains for obvious reasons though.

Hello. I use about 20 hours to get a good race chain. That includes all steps with wood test. Consistency is the ticket for speed.
