Thanks for the good detailed video ;)

but I will say those mitivac's arnt cheap, so I’ve fashioned up an old car vacuum tester like this.
Don’t get me wrong, yes It’s fiddly. But I don’t have to use it often

you need a spark plug adapter ;-) later I'll take a photo of what I've been using for 20 years

Somewhere there is also a spark plug adapter, I only check the pressure, it's enough without vacuum20230203_114212.jpg

Are you saying you don’t check vacuum?

I ask because checking vacuum first is a necessity - it will show you weak/leaking crank seals. Important to always check it before pressure, because adding pressure to the case can force the seals to close again and hold, therefore providing a false indication that your seals are OK, when in reality they are not.

A small leak can be enriched with a carburetor and a larger one will not hold the pressure, besides, the older rubber hardens and the pressure will not press against the crankshaft axis,
you can start with 4psi before you get to 7-8psi

Large leaks too can show themselves on vacuum but not pressure. A crank case vacuum test is far more important than a pressure test.

I wanted to show how easy and quick a pressure and vacuum test can be. I hope it helps! No need for
specialist block off plates or adapters.

Somehow i hadnt figured out the intake trick. this whole time ive been struggling with trying to blow air through the intake which is almost impossble on some newer saws. thanks for the tip
