A couple weeks ago I tore the saw down enough to see what I had for a top end.FE59073A-11FB-4D5B-AC3E-DF85B6AA920A.jpeg77E943B5-9202-49AD-AA8F-0551B9232543.jpeg910D833B-426C-42AF-8406-AAB72EB282CE.jpeg65F9B010-A1DC-46B0-9FE3-6D1DBBC90E7F.jpeg
If you look closely, you can see that the muffler wasn’t sealed properly and caused some melt damage on the top cover.

Ex: 100
Tr: 125
In: 70
Squish was 0.040”

After cutting the squish and base, I ended up with the following numbers:

Ex: 105
Tr: 130
In: 75
Squish is now 0.022”

When I port the jug, I plan to bring the transfers up to 122 on the primaries and 125 on the secondaries.

I think I've seen a thread where an 038 magnum stihl cylinder fits these saws?
Yeah, I recently found that thread. That was a slightly different series of saw, and I am not sure yet if an 036 or 038 will work. In the meantime I will move forward the OEM setup.

When I got the crankcase split apart today, I found a hairline crack on the AV support portion of the flywheel half of the case. I either need to send it to @srcarr52 for welding or get the right filler rod and try welding it myself.BC5925A2-A541-4D66-AB96-B3396E27E506.jpeg30C23868-0A89-4C4B-AB8C-F93D14688D7B.jpeg

Nice work! Thanks for documenting, keep it up. I also have a hard time especially when I get rolling on a project. But I appreciate threads like this, and as the OP, it's really neat to come back years later.

Finally had a chance to get out to the shop again and work on this saw. I cleaned up the crack with a carbide burr, blew it off with compressed air, and the wiped it down with acetone. First time I have ever welded magnesium. And while it isn’t a pretty weld, I would say I won’t be scared to do it again.7BE51B80-395B-44AD-AC48-78EA4E9DC232.jpeg0885BCE6-B80D-415F-A2CD-EC33694530B2.jpeg9DD1D098-DEC3-445A-9724-C06E265754EC.jpeg0B5E0B57-DDA1-463A-BA83-3F527B705C78.jpeg
