Hi fellas, Just bought a 500 and was thinking about getting it ported. Or getting rid of it, and getting a ported 462. I havent ran either yet. querious about yalls opinion. Fuel usage doesnt matter.

500 or 462 ported?

Is that a 661 maxflow on it? If so how does it fit.

As said earlier, longer bars the 500i will shine. For general firewood duties and a 28" bar when needed, I probably like the 462 more.
It’s kinda comical how the av on the 462 actually handles a 28” better than the 500. The 500 flops around like a wet noodle and it gets worse as the saw wears in. But it’s a easy well known fix to put the 661 rear spring on the 500i and problem solved. The spring is not a expensive part either.

I'm not a logger so it hasn't bothered me just yet, it is quite soft that's for sure. If I remember correctly, the 462 springs will fit the the 500i, which I believe are larger in diameter. I remember seeing a few kits with stiffer foam buffers. Doesn't say but I think it works on the 500i https://westcoastsaw.com/collections/fallers-suspension-kit-500i/products/fallers-suspension-kit

I bought the 500i last winter and love it, just don’t have the stones to have such an expensive saw ported. Butttt if you send me your 500, I’ll have it ported and let you know how it runs
I ported mine right after making a few baseline cuts, however, the way I read your post ................
1. I send you a NIB 500i
2. "I'll have it ported" is what you said, so you're going to send it back to me with $350.00 so I can port it.
3. I send it back to you so you can tell me how it runs
4. You send my saw back to me ??

Why not just send me the $350 and I'll show you the video ??
