If this not allowed, please don't beat me up.
I'm under the weather for a week, maybe three with home time.
I don't have the years' experience on these like some.
Could I get some suggestions for more reading?
Not looking for a contest, just content to keep my head straight.

Do have a model 51 half torn down, if I can get my pitiful arse feeling better, I plan on getting back to.

If you're interested in books on timber falling & safety, here are some to check out:
  1. Professional Timber Falling: A Procedural Approach, by Douglas Dent,
  2. The Fundamentals of General Tree Work, by Jerry Beranek (comprehensive, including climbing & rigging),
  3. To Fell a Tree A Complete Guide to Tree Felling and Woodcutting Methods, by Jeff Jepson,
  4. Tree Faller's Manual : Techniques for Standard and Complex Tree-Felling Operations
The first two are classics.

Thanks. Checked those and will again.

Messed with the 51-55 more.
The one partition stud failed, and the carb now does not hold pressure at inlet.
I studded up two more partitions and have a rebuilt carb on stock.
Glad I was smart enough to stop sawing before causing damage.

Stinks not having real tools. Came up with vac test block off idea for impulse.
Put cyl gasket on backwards to check vac and squish.
Going to try this after I get some heat going.

17 degrees outside, good time to work inside.

I should fix and sell all these. Buy modern updated saw, then have new problems to bark about lol.

The guy not breaking something is the guy not doing anything.

Yes Dub, others too, good stuff.

One that escapes me, the guy was fooling around with closed port vs open port.
He had some great content.
It is here somewhere.

Info and experience on this ope site is second to none I have found. And way above my pay scale lol. Big thanks to all.

I'm the founder of Firewood Hoarders Club and I can tell you the only two forums I spend any time on are over here and over there. Lots of great folks on both sites, and we have a pretty dern'd good joint relationship too. These two sites alone have helped me more times than I could ever mention with saw modd'n, firewood'n, DIY'n, outdoor cook'n, fab'n, build'n, and countless real-life friendships that I'm beyond grateful for. It's the winter season and I'll be doing more and more saw modd'n, so I'll spend quite a bit of time in my basement saw bunker and with yinz fellers here....

Thanks everyone and Motorka that looks like a good one. Single digits outside, wind, and feeling like crap, gonna camp on that topic.

I need to learn these bottom ends and degrees and stuff.

Mine can be ready to go back together but I'll likely mess around it more.
Keep fixing till I find something else broke mentality lol.
