Open or closed guide bar slot

I have a Poulan Wood Shark which came with a closed guide bar slot



I have a spare bar which I would like to use with it, but it has an open end slot.



It fits, is there any reason why I should not use it?

(Images just show the open and closed types and are not the actual bar ends)

Just different manufacturers... run it.
