Howdy folks! I replaced a pressed in style front wheel bearing on my wife’s 2009 Kia Sportage today. I knew it would be a pretty tough job but I would definitely find someone to press the bearing out and back in if I do it again. Hub assemblies are a breeze compared to these. I rented a bearing press tool from Oreilly’s and I believe it would have been easier for me to sledge hammer it out with a driver and back in than using that press tool. I got my pole saw back together and tuned yesterday and as soon as I get this brush cleaned up from cutting this fence row out I’ll be ready for a storage building.

Not sure how the Koreans do it but I always used the studs to knock them out and pull them back in on Jeeps.

Glad to see you here, was starting to get worried that you got crushed by the skidder tire
I decided to step back a bit. I have been very busy lately, and the forum was getting addictive. I’m still checking in daily.

Good evening. Looks like heavy snowfall tonight. Installed bar side plates on my echo kioritz 602vl today. Filled up my snowmobile in preparation for the snow. Taking my truck in tomorrow morning for new tire rods and alignment.

Big ass press…
Tacomas, the older ones, take a 50k# press. Newer ones cannot be replaced…swap out the whole knuckle/hub/Bering :(
Wonder how that is they can’t be replaced, must be somehow they can be done but that’s not to say it would be easy or cost effective. I like complete knuckles anyway especially for older cars because they aren’t usually that expensive and even if it’s 75-100$ a side more the money isn’t usually worth the work to clean everything up and press bearings in and out.

2009 4Runner was the same. I bought the bearing and thought I could do it with my press, NOPE back to the Asian mechanic shop beside the parts store where I should have used in the first place! Tao got me out of several binds and didn’t charge that much. I think he charged $20/bearing to remove and replace if you had the bearing.

Morning gentlemen. We got some much needed rain in East TN. The low humidity and wind was starting to be an issue with wildfires. I plan on retrieving the wood this morning if the wind isn’t up. There are too many snags in that area to be working in high winds. Have a good day gentlemen.
