I have a Henry H001T lever action .22 that I like very much, it has a 20" octagonal barrel and is quite accurate with just about anything you feed it. I decided to upgrade the sights and see just how good it can shoot. I put a Williams FP-GR-TK receiver sight on it, this sight is click adjustable and clamps to the receiver dovetail. The original front sight is .500, a little high for my taste. I found a .450 sight with very fine white head in my gun junkyard which tapped right on. Took it out behind the house at 30 yards from a sitting position, I think we have a winner here. A real rifleman/woman (not me) could easily put them all in the bull.

Looks like a good combination.
I have one of those rifles and have been looking for something better than the factory sights.
I think my gun has a ramp front sight, so it'll need to be replaced. Does the .450 front height still give you plenty of adjustment?
Thanks for sharing.

Is yours the standard round barrel model? If so, I think the front sight and barrel band are all one unit. There is a replacement for it available, I think from Marble's. Yes, the .450 front sight gives plenty of elevation adjustment room up and down. The front sight on my rifle is dovetailed into the barrel, the original sight was .500. I would imagine the total height of yours is similar. From what I have read, the original front sight on the standard model will work with most aftermarket rear sights including the Williams.

I ordered a Marble's Bullseye rear for my ancient Marlin 995, will report how well that one works.

Mine's the round barrel model. I found the front sight assembly at Midway but forgot to order it and the rear sight, when I ordered targets last weekend.
I'll be back over there in the near future. I won't forget again.

My Henry 22 mag. in the farm truck, with a 3 x 9 Bushnell. Sighted in with the Hornady 33 grain bullets for now. Have a Nikon 3 x 9 coming from Midway this week I hope.

You must have good eyes, I can't even see 30 yards without a scope.

My up close eyesight is really good, once you get past 50 it really starts going down hill. As in, I can place the bullet within a range of 3-4 inches or so on a target all day long but I can't place it on a specific spot. It doesn't help matters that I have a bit of essential tremor. Aperture sights really help to cut down on glare and 'fuzz' on the image, I use them on all my rifles and carbines except two which have scopes.

There's a Henry blued version 22LR lever-action for sale at a walmart near me for $274. I've never shopped for a Henry but that seemed cheap.

I agree the 9422 and 39 are very nice guns. Especially the 9422, Winchester really screwed themselves by not promoting it more. I bet most 94 owners were completely unaware they made a rimfire version. Non-ferrous receiver or not, I'm still very happy with my Henry H001T. It has a nice and heavy octagonal barrel (not available on the former two) and cost about half as much. Everything important on it is steel, so I think it can withstand a steady diet of .22 LR!
:pesas:

If I ever buy another .22 lever action it's going to be a Browning BL-22. When I bought my Henry, I had narrowed it down to those two. I ended up going with the Henry because of the octagonal barrel and the fact that it has about the same weight and feel as a .30-30, my main centerfire cartridge.

Marlin made a few recent octagon barrel rimfire versions. Best I remember one was called the Texan or cowboy. One was a rimfire other centerfire.

Didn't know they ever made an octagonal .22. Those Marlin Cowboys are HOT, 'specially with a case colored receiver. Same for the dearly departed Winchester Trail's End rifles.

New 1894C's are now available. A gent on Cast Boolits got one and is quite happy with it.

I think the octagon marlin rimfires were the 1897 models.

Yes. The few I saw had octagon barrels and also had very nice wood.

I wish they'd make the 1894M in 22 mag again but with an octagon barrel. I doubt it since Remington owns them now.

I paid $229 for my H001 last fall, NIB, at a gun show.
