Found a new in box never filled 361 today. Pretty keen to give it a run on the weekend. Should go ok with the 16” bar [emoji108]

Nice looking saw. I run 18" 3/8 on the one I just built and it would definitely run more.

Nice find !!
That saw will run a 20” bar ,and power it very well .

Won’t fit in the fire truck locker with a 20” bar. We have a very tidy 036 on another truck with a 16” bar too.

I bought mine with a 20" bar:

Fabulous saw. Very dependable. When new, I took it new to a GTG. The only guy that beat me was running a ported 460 Mag. It was close.

Yep, one of my favourite series of saws. My go to farm saw is a really early 036. It rips. I’ve recently put a new tank and handle on a blokes 381 and my 036 is so close to it it’s not funny and a heap lighter, 381 has a touch more torque but unless the bar is buried deep the 036 has it.

Stock chainsaws suck.

Agreed, I run a 25" on mine and it's not a problem. I would not go any bigger, however.

Nice find!!

Agreed. After about 300 hours of operation and 11 years, the only part I have had to replace on my 361 was the fuel filter. I added an outside bumper spike. I've probably worn out a dozen chains that each got sharpened ten times apiece.

If I had to throw away all my saws and keep just one, the Stihl MS 361 would still be on board. 'Nuff said.

I have a new one put up with 18 bar. I have one with a 20 inch e bar also. It pulls a 20 real good. It’s my favorite stock 60 saw of all time. I have a ported 2159 that will out cut it but the 361 is a little lighter.

Brought mine out today and started it once again. Too hot and humid to put it in wood, but that saw's engine almost tempted me to do it anyway. What else can I say?
