So these are the last set of serving platters I milled before the wife imposed the "eminent baby arrival project ban"
They are Cherry Barked Oak, colored with keda dyes, sealed in shellac, then coated in epoxy resin "liquid glass" .

Those slabs look really beautiful, nice finishes you have there Quietfly. Are congratulation in order here, "eminent baby arrival project ban"?

Your stuff looks great. How long do you have to let the wood dry before you do that stuff to it?

I delivered some fire wood this morning, then milled some 4" thick Hickory in the afternoon.

In most cases probably not long enough. The rule is like 6-8 months per inch. A lot of the stock I'm using now is about 3 years old.
If you are completely encapsulating the wood you can get away with using much greener wood.
