How durable is the MS880 clone? I'm looking for a big saw to play with once in a while but not interested in a brand new 3120xp or ms881 prices. If I was using it every day then it would be a different story.

Thanks

I have fooled around with some of the clone kits. To my experience I think the 880 clone is the best kit of all the clones. I just got the 395 clone and I like the 880 better.

But I would also caution you and say I am not advocating the allready assemblied saws from China.
Instead I am advocating in building your own 880 from the kit and replacing some of the parts with OEM ones.

Which upgrades do you recommend?

OEM; Piston pin, piston needle bearings, circlips, intake boot clamp, air filter…. I usually do fuel line and gas cap but the clones looked extremely well built.

make sure you pressure and vaccume test the cylinder head and the fuel system.

When I assemble the saw I knock the crank seals out and clean the bearings till they are absolutely Smooth and no rough spots. They come with a lot of metal shaivings in them….

make sure crank is centered on install and in the sweet spot.

Make sure everything is lubed to the max with oil, and run her 32:1.

It would also be wise to get a OEM carb. The tunes done usually hold.

I see HL supply has the 880 ($450), 660 ($240), and 372 ($220) kits on sale for deal of the day.

Evidently the 880 isnt on sale for $450 anymore. I just looked and it is $600 now. Wish i would have come across the $450 price sooner.

I’ll keep a check on and hope they get that cheap again.

As @Fleethirte stated, replace clone parts with OEM parts.

I think the head screws are a important OEM part to get. I have been reading on the Farmertech FB page that the Chinese ones are breaking !
