been curious about this for a while...seeing how the values of these mtronic saws are affected after modifications made. had a chance this weekend with a 201t-cm. did the standard muffler opening and bumped the timing a little.
I took the saw stock and filled w/ shop mix...40/50:1 (depending who mixed that day) stihl ultra...yes that's what we use in the shop. whatever. I ran it about a half a tank to get the computer to set itself to conditions, cut on some what I believe is poplar that we had dropped off..not sure. I had the tech hook it up to check the baseline
idle: 68
full: 52
actually the idle showed a little high within its spec but the computer said it was fine. so after I took it home and did the mods I ran the rest of the ultra through, didn't last long, and then refilled w/ 40:1 klotz to finish (that's all I had on hand), also it was on a different day so the temps weren't the exact same and the wood I have at home is also different...it wasn't a scientific redbull type test, mostly just out of curiosity. hooked it up this morning before the guy came to get it.
idle:66
full: 52
so the idle settled down a bit and the full speed value is the same. its seems this m-tronic crap compensates for those mods and keeps the saw right within spec. so basically I wrote this whole long diatribe to let you know nothing changes on the m-tronic side of a modified 201t-cm. your welcome for wasting the last few minutes of your day...carry on:D
***in all honesty I would still like to see if a fully ported m-tronic saw would show any changes to the fuel values ...just haven't had the chance to get one before and after.****

and now the gratuitous muffler pic

Thanks for the info,
don't forget to block the screen hole or it will melt the clutch cover plastic.

oh yea seen that a time or 15 :D...I remember when the 201's first came out and the tree guys thought they were like the 200's, you could just pull the screen for instant power...well, no, plus you melt your *s-word. hahaha.

eh...I think I like the regular carb ones better. thanks, theyre small and I moisturize.

You made that one easy , but out of respect and consideration for this forum and now being tuned in to the sensitivities of memebers im gonna let it slide..and i was genuinely curious how it ran too...dont the mtrons have a higher rev limit ?

you can forget my sensitivities sir, my butt is not hurt very easily. please, fire away...your insults are always pretty damn funny.

honestly I don't know about the rev limit, a guy is coming to pick one up tomorrow, ill put a tach on it when I run it. it wasn't bad in stock form and held better rpm's in the cut after the mods...but im just a psp, I don't run saws for a living.

I know I probably read it wrong, but are you saying it increased power but not rpm after the mods you did? If that's the case then in my opinion I'll call it a successful mod. More power doesn't always need a higher rpm.

This 661 has ran flawless..... Until today. Fired it up and it died after three seconds. It would fire again but only to die

Try to refukulate it.

Or buy a different coil , i had to on one of mine and it was tits after that.

I have an M tronic 201 coming in for as the tree guy says " this is an expensive piece of crap". He is used to the 200. So if it is M tronic, all you can do is the muffler and timing advance to increase the usefulness?

Unless you want to pay to get it ported...but for the average hack like myself, those simple mods make the saws run better.

They rip with a timing bump and muffler mod.

Not worth getting ported...just my opinion.
