That doesn't say much for them, when we look at older models around for many moons longer
and still running.

Its not the saws fault. The crankcase broke at the spring thinking it was more the work of mechanic and being run to lean. Just wondering if something is cheaper spent 500 on jug and piston and really didnt want to spend another 350 right now. Cant cut trees in the rain. Bought a new 500i and sending it for port work. Ill just eait if i cant and let 1 of you guys hybrid it suggestions

How did the 500i get to run lean, was it because of the crank case breaking.

That sucks, when you pay a man you expect a decent job. There is a debate
about the stihl brand 2t oils, I don't use them because I see people complain
they are dirty, even though I think the actual oil is different in Europe than in
the US, just not interested in taking a chance with it.

If your saw went ok before you changed the 2t oil you use, then may be there is
something to be learned there, not easy to know when the mechanic may also have
contributed to the demise of the saw.

We get two varieties of it in Ireland.
SEMI SYNTHETIC
STIHL HP Super 2-Stroke Engine Oil
Two stroke oil ideal for use with Stihl 2-Stroke or 4-Mix engines.
semi-synethetic oil with low-ash addidives for clearn low-smoking burning.
"Low smoke oil" Perfomance class: JASO-FD, ISO-L-EGD
Fuel Stabilizer
Suitable for the most demanding machines:
Chainsaws, Cut Off Saws, Strimmers, Hedge Trimmers +More

THEY DON'T MENTION 50:1 like they do in the fully synthetic add bellow,
yes its on the bottle, maybe they want people to read between the lines.
FULLY SYNTHETIC

STIHL HP Ultra 2-Stroke Engine Oil
Fully synthetic, biodegradable two-stroke engine oil with exceptional lubricaiton properties.
Burns with extremely low residue due to ash-free additive.
Suitable for use on the most demanding machines:
Performance Class: JASO-FD, ISO-L-EGD

Sutiable For:
Chainsaws, Cut Off Saws, Hedge Trimmers, Strimmers & More

Oil/Fuel Ratio: 1:50

This is why I avoid it, and that others have also had trouble with it providing
engine protection, and they say it leaves a mess on the piston and exhaust.

Second 500i on OPE that got damaged by switching to Stihl oil, in less than a few months too !!!!
Doesn't surprise me at all., I've seen countless machines either ruined or damaged from stihl ultra. The only time I seen it work well in in a milling saw that seen very little time idling. Must have been running hot enough to burn off the residue that ends up normally leaving behind harmful deposits
