MS 462 crankcase sleeves

How you folks doing out there?

I was just about ready to put those two 462 crankcase half’s together and quickly found out that both of em have those little sleeves installed… I’m like what is going on here!?!

I didn’t really pay much attention to those little mfkers because in the past every saw I put back together had them on one side and one side only.

So I guess the question now is, can ya remove those sleeves or do I need to get another half? Is this a heated thing? Because the side I’m trying to put on does have the extra holes for the generator.

Just grab them and pull them out of one case half, save them as spares.

I tried on one of them and I couldn’t move the darn thing so I thought I’ll ask before I put more effort into getting them out.

But if that’s the way to go, maybe try some different pliers or something. Thanks!

Hit it with yur purse

Find some round stock that fit snug inside, use a vice grip clamped around, the stock will support the part from crushing. Twist and wiggle it out.

A little heat from a propane torch may help. Just heat the case a bit around the dowel. Grab the dowel with pliers and twist and pull.

Yes they are, got them in a truck load of new parts and thought might as well build a new saw
