So. Building one of these for the first time. Aaaaaaaand this happened.

It's been quite the adventure so far. Other then the oil pump breaking. The only thing I'm definitely not a fan of is how it smashes the spark plug wire behind it. I believe that's why it broke.

Well. On to the handle!

This might help with the handle.

Swooped right in and saved his ass.

These things are dead simple to work on if you can handle the tight spaces. I get through them fairly quick now. Two in a day with port work. I send out the machining so that saves a little time. Just a base cut. The rest gets sanded in the tiny pocket.

My very first Farmertec 200t I spent a very long time with my desktop ‘puter and the handle parts in front of me. [emoji3166]

I thought it wise to document the finished product with a picture.

FWIW: An 019t, MS190 or MS191

In order to remove the starter on a 019t, one must remove the wrap handle. [emoji90]

From my perspective the 200T is the most mechanic friendly saw Stihl ever made .You don't have that heat /freeze deal to split one as one example .That handle assembly can have you exercising your vocabulary though at times .Ironically the predecessor of the 020 and 200T ,the 020AV top handle was the most unfriendly saw Stihl ever made .

Ive got one of those sitting in my garage half put together.. Runs absolutely great. But does not turn off once its started. I've had the handle apart probably 8 times. Gave up and now it's just collecting dust

See above pic of handle guts. You have the kill switch contacts positioned wrong likely.

If I recall correctly you have a ground wire jumper in that handle that has to be bonded to the engine else it never will shut off .Yes before it is asked I have missed it before .

My 200tc came detached from my lanyard a while back. It fell 30' and landed upside down on a basketball sized rock.
In disgust I shelfed it. Over the winter i got all new parts and fixed it. The handle spilled it's guts when I pulled the side cover off.
Took me a bunch of attempts to get it right. Once ya figure out the puzzle, it's not that bad. When I had the front complete and the long linkages set in place, I used a bread bag twisty tie to hold it all in place while I figured out the rest. Required a lot of patience, swearing, and a few walk aways to get her back together.

I'm currently just having an issue getting the linkages to the carb to stay put. They keep coming off and falling apart. I have tried the choke operation. Still trying to get the throttle to work.

If I remember correctly, I left the carb loose, then used a pick with a small 90* bend at the tip. I may have left the handle linkage side not fully fitted in the hole.

In spite of the frustration one has to admit the handle and linkage of a 020-200T is a mechanical marvel .It probably was computer designed .It could have been the German engineers bending wire linkage until something worked too .I'll bet they went through a lot of hard drawn wire if they used that method before they got it .Like in tonnage .
