Took down a tall Blue Spruce about 18 months ago. Saved the last 8' to mill. Didn't have a project in mind so the log just sat. Took about 18" off for saw testing. Decided to make some 4x4 posts to use for building a base for a wood lathe I just got from @Duane(Pa). Finally got to use my mini mill too! Got 4 4x4's and 4 2x4's. The high today didn't break 70 and was breezy so it was a perfect day to mill.

Here's the progress on that project! Got the base all together and the legs are only 29". The White Oak slab is 2 3/4" thick so the working hight of the lathe should be around 42".

I heard you can take more than 29 inches

That mini mill looks like it works pretty slick for getting a nice 90 deg. corner. Along with multiple vertical cuts to start so you slab off more piece per horizontal cut. I might have to try that some day. Currently I just chalk line and rip with a chainsaw and joint the edge. Unless it less than 6/4, then I'll use the skill saw.

Won't you get sick of moving those offcuts off your bottom bunk every day for nap time?
