Mastermind tank vent mod

Someone posted that Mastermind wrote about a tank vent mod that would work on a husky 350

Can not find it, any help??

I do the 346XP tank vent different these days. I was drilling an extra hole, but that was allowing fuel to be pulled into the air filter elbow when the saw was on it's side. I've never done a 350........but if it's like the 346, just pull out the tank vent and remove everything inside, then reinstall the largest disc. Put the vent back in and it will allow plenty of air in......

I just modified a Jonsered 2159 the other day using a Stihl 660 tank vent. The 660 vent is a round modern style vent with a hose barb formed onto it. Jred 2150/52/53, 2156/2159 and Husky 350/3, 346, 357, 359 are all basically the same vent. I gutted the stock vent completely, drilled a hole inside the tank behind where the vent goes and reinstalled the white vent nipple. Ran the hose to the top cover and put the 660 vent in the end of the hose. It works perfect, easily serviced, flows plenty and leaks no fuel. I have not tried it on the smaller saws so I don't know if there is enough room under the top cover for it or not but it works great on the bigger saws.

That is a perfect vent. The 346 vent line plugs up to the air filter elbow. So to do what you did just means you have to plug that nipple. I've used a toothpick inserted into it..

I have the same on my 357. pushed all of the guts out of the vent to the tank with the nipple sticking out. I ended up with an Echo tank vent and capped the intake elbow with a basic automotive vacuum cap.
You don't want the fuel to drip into the intake elbow. :)

but you are still doing the vent modd as you did on AS?
Or is it something totally new u do nowadays?

Took my main work saw back (346) apart used some ultra black rtv to plug the extra hole I drilled.To much fuel in filter like the man said and was flodding out easier after stopping to refuel.It also would start without choking when cold.I use bailing wire to push the guts out of the vent.
If you don't know what bailing wire is stop reading this post:cbiggrin:
