Going to build some saw bucks to hold the logs for testing and tuning saws that I work on and would like to see some pics of others for ideas if you guys have any to share. Thanks in advance.
I really like this one that I made with 7/4 hardwood. It's built low to the ground, but that makes it easy to load. The six cross legs are identical and the two horizontal supports also match each other. Screws hold it together.
There is a slight taper added to the the tops of the cross legs. The legs are notched to accept the horizontal supports and the supports are also notched so that all the pieces lock together to help out the screws. Rock solid.
Note that all the pieces are even the same length, horizontal or vertical. So, you can hardly miss. If you want to make it taller, just increase the length of the legs. I use this sawbuck a lot and have made them for friends.
I built a stand that will hold 2 12x12 side by side with an edge to tighten them into so they don’t move. It’s all 2x2” angle iron with bracing. I put a 24” ash log 12’ long on it once and it didn’t even flex. Base is wider than the top and offset to be more stable as well.
