I'd like to start a thread on frankensaws and what parts can be made to fit other saws, anything from any model.

I found out today that an 046/460 piston will fit in a 272xp jug thanks to @Chainsaw Jim

Seeing how I know very little about this type of thing, I thought some experts could chime in and mention other things they have found to work in the wrong saw over the years

Thanks in advance for ya'lls knowledge

Benefit of 046/460 piston in a 272 @Chainsaw Jim ? More crown height ?

It all depends on whether or not the ring locating pin in the center is exposed in the intake at bdc.
Exactly, I'm sure there are even more variables than that

I have another idea for a frankensaw, gonna require some lathe work on a crank to make it happen.....

I just found out from a member on another site that he just scrapped 70 lbs of junk cranks haha, I bet there were some good ones in there for mock up purposes

Ooooh, let's hear it?
2100 case, 3120 crank, 395 piston, 2100 cylinder.

I've read plenty of 395 piston in 2100 cylinder builds. You have to cut about .100 off the jug to make it work.

Found 1 3120 crank in a 2100 build. He had to run an .080 spacer to take up the extra stroke.

Should be able to combine the 2 and do minimal cylinder machining according to the math.

Sounds like a winner, keep us in the loop on that build when you do it, even if it takes a year! Some of my projects take forever because I'm always doing 10 different things at once

Anybody ever built or had built a custom full circle crank for a saw? I've heard of people building them out of existing cranks using epoxy and what not but I'm talking billet...... ohhhh yeahhh
