That saw doesn’t look any different than a regular 661R. What am I missing?

Your missing nothing, it’s just an r version of the the 661. You know has a wrap handle so you can hold it left handed like a west coast faller

This was one of the comments from the Stihl dealer to the question of what was different.

Yep those would be left handed, so technically I was wrong about the no such thing as a left handed saw. Just need to be willing to search for one and not care if you can get parts for it.

I am pretty sure I have seen one more but the make/model escapes me at the moment.
