Is there a website around that shows what engine options are available to repower older lawn tractors?
This one has a kawi FC540v, cylinder is very close to out of spec and oversize no longer ava.

I looked up your riding lawn mower, it says it comes with a 17 hp engine. Basically any riding lawn mower with a 16-22 HP vertical mower would do. You can buy running used mowers for $100-$300 on Craigslist. You can buy new vertical diesel engines for $1600 if you really wanted to invest in the JD.

The main thing is that the shaft is the same size and key way, which is usually an inch. I started repairing riding lawn mowers in earnest a few months ago, and have found even the early 1990s RER Snappers have mounting holders that line up with later model engines.
