OK, I'm going to ape Powerstroke's Husky 50 thread with excessive pics and bits of info. My friend Jason asked me to create a nice 670 from these 2 cadavers, so that's what we're going to do. Today was tear down and discovery. Must be enough stuff here for a decent saw, right? Both saws were made in 95, about 3 months apart. 20230502_110028.jpg

Somebody's already been messing with this one, cause that is not a 670 top end. It's a highway 272 kit. Also an aftermarket carb. Well, we aren't going in that direction. First, I don't like highway at all. Second, the end result is going to be a proper 670. Not a Chinese 272 dressed in red. Also notice the seal collar is missing. All kinds of of hot air gets blown back to the carb if ya don't put one in there.

There's a better solution if anyone wants to use the thin fuel line instead of the expensive and hard to find molded line. These tank grommets from the 55 and a host of other saws will make life a lot easier. The extra hole is for the "compensating" or "supermix" carb. It ain't that important. And I've plugged them off with no issues. Think it was more of a gimmick than anything.

Cylinder is in good shape. Gave it a quick hone. Will be getting a Dukes piston. The 670 and 625 both got this intake set up. Ahead of its time with the boot, clamp, and support ring that most everything went to.

Back when I just ran huskys and johnyreds religiously, I had a 670II and a champ. Both saws would outcut the 272 huskys, but didn't seem to hold up due to intake boots tearing. Was this what you experienced also spike60?

Never saw it that often myself. That was mostly addressed by going from the wire clip to the band style clamp on the intake boot. But your 2 saws should have had that improvement.

I'll get the service bulletin up here at some point, but I may have already posted it in the Jonsered thread over in brand specific. They changed the cylinder along with the boot. They also anchored the carb better.
