Seems like I end up buy 2-3 pieces of power equipment the years that I do. Then wonder why all the carb kit gaskets etc dried out 5-7 years later….almost like they’ve been exposed to gas for the same amount of time or something…. I did read about an idea I liked for storage in the off season. Filling them with a 50/50 mix in the tank to keep everything “wet” with less of the solvent value of gasoline. Dump the tank in spring, purge em with some regular mix and go.
Either that or a tank of avgas would probably do just as well. Talking with bush pilots in Alaska, they’ve knowingly used drums that were stored 25-30 years, as long as the fuel is kept where no moisture can contaminate it. I don’t want to burn and breathe the leaded exhaust more than necessary, but it sure might make a better storage fuel.
