A few years ago I decided I wanted to get a decent saw. My old Poluan 3400 was still a good saw, but I wanted something lighter and with some more power. I scored a 07 NE 346XP off ebay that happened to be done up by a guy (nmurph) that used to be on the arboristsite. It is in remarkably good condition, save the clutch cover. It has a 16" bar w/ .325 x .58 LGX chain.
Then I caught the bug and decided if one was good, two would have to be better. I recently scored my second saw, a 02 OE 372XP. The 372 is a bit rougher than the 346. I've been going through and replacing broken or missing items. I just about have it where I want it once I swap the 371 top cover for the correct 372 one and get a OE clutch cover to replace the aftermarket one. It is running a 20" bar with 3/8" x .50 LGX chain. I'm also debating about the jump to a 28" w/ skip tooth, which seems very popular.
I have used this site as a resource many times and finally decided to join. I just wanted to introduce myself and I look forward to learning more and maybe finding some parts or projects. image1.jpeg image0 (2).jpeg

Thanks everyone!! I mainly use these saws at my folks farm out in W. MD. The 346 has had no issues handling any task I've used it for. We recently had some larger trees come down that the 346 is just too small for. Faced with this task the 372 with the 20" should take care of most of it but, a 28" might be needed. It may not be necessary, but it might make the cleanup task a bit easier. Decisions, decisions........

Slap her on there and have at it. A neighbor of mine who I gave a 262 uses a 24" bar on it with no complaints. Its been going for 6 years now. I personally wouldnt do it but he doesnt have CAD either. As long as its for occasional use, dont see anything wrong with that.

I keep a 20 on my 70 cc saw. 272.
I ended up buying a second 272 to keep a 32 on. So having two bars might be a nice setup. I use the 20 more. The longer bar I use for falling the tree just so I keep my cuts lined up.
