Spent a few hours today and burned 3 tanks of fuel through the new 462.
Locust, Red Oak, White Oak and Cherry.
I have to say, the saw was a pleasure to run. Smooth and loads of power.
25" Cannon bar.
I'm pleased
It took my first one a solid 5-6 tanks of fuel to “wake up”. I was actually disappointed with it the first day I used it (I was used to modded 460 torque). I ordered a WCS Bark Box for it and didn’t run it again until I installed that - it had a noticeable gain after that! I was impressed. More torque. Statted using it more and now it’s my daily felling/limbing saw.

Hey, this is nice to hear. I just bought a 462 last summer and have only used it on two trees so far. A nice saw; outperforms my 362 for sure.
Can you folks tell me more about your Mods:
--25" Cannon bar
-- WCS Bark Box
-- Egan Straight Shot

THANKS.

If you install one of these you will need to do a reset on the M-Tronic.

Start the machine and run it in the ▲ Cold start position for at least 90 seconds. Do not touch the throttle or accelerate the saw during this time. After 90 seconds, switch off the machine. Your machine is now re-calibrated and ready for operation. There r several videos on youtube.

That’s the V1 reset, for saws like the early 261 and 661, 441, 241.

462 and all others in the last few years use the v3, which is actually a calibration for your current conditions.

Put the saw in choke mode, start it and let it idle in choke mode for 30–45 seconds, squeeze trigger completely without letting go. You will see about 8000 RPM for 10 seconds, full throttle for 7 or 8 seconds, and then 8000 RPMs again for several seconds. When the rpm goes to wide-open after that, the calibration is complete. .

Wow. Got way more than expected. Thanks for all the help guys!

I tried this and it worked fine on my existing setup; plan to mod with the Egan today(May5) and re-do.
thanks again
