I have taken a liking to Stihl 066's.
I now have 3 of them.
I also have a ported 026
So finances are a bit tight and the wife "commented" on the fact that I bought a chainsaw to save money on buying firewood, and why did I now need 5 of them?
Fair point I guess.
So the Stihl 039, that was my first saw, that I painstakingly rebuilt got advertised and I sold it today.
He was a young fella.
Asked if it was an XP model.
I said, no..... its a Stihl
"Oh" he said, my last saw was a Husqvarna and the XP gave it more power.
I said "Well this is a Stihl and it goes good"
I rolled a foot thick round onto the lawn and let him give it a run.
It cut like a champion, as always.
He said:
Well it cuts better than my 345 and it was a 20" saw as well. (I shuddered at the fact that I was about to sell my beloved saw to someone who classified saw size by bar length)
I asked what happened to his 345 and he said it blew up trying to cut big timber with it.
I took his cash and watched my saw leave to a certain, painful death.
After all the work that went into making it great, it was painful to watch it go.
I was a great saw but I dont think I will ever regret selling it.
If i ever want a mid sized saw again, I will probably chase an 044, but for a bloke cutting firewood, there is not much that cant be done with an 026 and a couple 066's
