Must do alot of welding I reckon
Needle scaler? If I never see one again I’d be happy. I spent a week in a tiny room knocking the paint off of a municipal water tank. Awful. Dusty, loud....I give you credit.
Is that a HF special?
Sounds like you've been busy. I, for one, really hope you find some time in the near future to port your 7310p.View attachment 275547

Still works even. About 600 hours on it since November.
It feels faster.. Maybe 5k bpm? Might be a new market here..
Gonna have to dyno it..

P.S.- Sorry for the selfish comment...lol.
Huh, I admit I don't even know what I am looking at.
Thank You for the explanation, sounds like a good tool to have in Your line of work.Pneumatic Needle scaler. Like an inline air hammer. Open the valve the piston starts hammering with a real short stroke. .250" or less. Really fast they say 4700 beats per minute.
The piece I am pointing at is the block that holds the 30+ individual hardened "needles" and a spring is on top. The individual needles can act as a mini hammer ×30 but not a super solid hit. Enough to knock scale/rust or in my case the flux/slag off the weld beads so I can lay another pass.
Using it in the same position the entire time side loaded it and the piston rubbed through the housing.
Exactly what I was thinking too. That looks like a massive amount of weld.
Just a few times a year do I do a lot of welding.
But a lot is a relative term. This project will have about 8000lb of welding wire into it. Started in November, hope to be done in a week or so.
I hope you get paid well. not everyone can weld like that. Very impressive.

I picked up one of these and use it on a regular air hammer. The 90 degree handle makes it more used friendly when yer welding sideways and upside down. A little peen on the set screws is a must or they will fall out in short order. Loctite is useless because of the heat if you set it down in the wrong spot
Nice welds Joe! Don't burn your dinner
Steven
I truly do enjoy it but it gets old after the 6th week of 7/12's normally on the night part of that too.
First rodeo in a couple years. But I'll be glad to wait at least a year before the next one.
The more fun part is machining everything after all the weld warped/twisted the frame.
