I just replaced the carb on my G388 & it still isn't pumping the mix i can put some fuel directly into carb & it starts fine but it seems like it has ran out of gas i have checked the fuel filter & the fuel line & found no problems with them what could be causing this to do this

Some times it helps if the carb is wet from fuel. The flaps seal better.

But saying that maybe you don’t have a vacuum pulse from the engine for the carb to suck fuel from the tank.

On extreme cases, I use a weedeater fuel tank zip tied to the front handle. Gravity feed helps prime the carb guts.

If the tank vent has a duck bill style they are notorious for sticking together and not allow ventilation, with a full tank of fuel it doesn't take very long for it to have a vacuum in the tank that the carburetor fuel pump can't overcome. To diagnose turn on its side while running, then when it acts up loosen the fuel cap just slightly enough to let air in and see if there is a change in the motor running.
