Hey guys just wondering what screw alternatives you turn to when you drop and lose one your husqvarna originals?
Apparently they are made from unobtainum because i cant get one for less than $7! Thats ludicrous, there must be something other than using a ground down gib screw.
Show me what you... use?

Do you have a part number for the one you need?

530015814 is a Plastite 10-14 screw
530015906 is a Plastite M5.28-1.81 screw
530016439 is a Plastite M5.28-1.81 screw

Length needs to be determined.

Now of course aftermarket ones would be Trox Plus drives

The problem is who needs 10,000 of them at one time or at least that is smallest quantity I have found in the Metric version. Now of course I haven't dug deeper than finding out the sizes.

Now the 10-14 ones can be gotten form McMasters in small quantities but they don't have the M5.28-1.81 screws.

I know what a m5 x 16 mm is but the .28-1.81 i have no idea. The huskies i have worked on are just standard pitch so for m5 thats 0.8 mm.
And you probably want shiny galvanized for rust protection.
But living in Sweden finding metric screws are no problem.

There's times when the price of hardware from Husqvarna that is standardized is a tad spendy to say the least. There are times too when spending $500.00 in parts to rebuild a saw a few bucks for a screw here or there is a drop in the bucket. All that said, the standard 5-8mm hex cap screws can be had at most any hardware type selling place. I've bought from ACE Hardware, Fastenal and McMaster Carr as well as eBay of all places. I would think that Grainger would be a source as well but haven't tried them out yet, I think I'll give that a go next time I need something. The other thing nice is buying by 10 or as much up to a hundred at a time means I wont have to buy again for quite a good while and will have that needed fastener on hand when making a repair. I purchased a plastic fishing tackle type box to keep them in so I can find them when I need them.
Now with new saws having T27 Torx heads, the game starts all over again...

Northwood saw usually has a large selection of torx head metric screws . If all else fails you can usually get by with socket head grade 8 .I'm kind of like Stumpy and have boxes full of them .It's never a question of if but rather where are they .
