2018. fairly Low hour first gen. Husqvarna 135

Im suprised to see a CRANKSHAFT made of sintered metal.. part that must endure most stress and abuse.
I mean, these are low-end saws, but this is just...wow.

Soft steel shaft simply pressed through and press squashed.

Who would have thought it might come loose :confundio1:


So me being me, ill try to save it.
Has anyone done anything similar?

Ill completely take it apart, grind off the squashed part, make it snug fit and TIG weld it in.

As sintered metal is quite porous, i left it "soaking" in paint thinner to remove any oils and then heated it up with heat gun.

When i tried welding it began to splatter and burn, as it still had some oils and impurities, so i left it on wood stove for an hour or so, after that it welded relatively good.

Predictions on the longetivity of this "repair" ? :cunaooooo:

Been a long time since hearing that word, Used to be a sintering plant near here that employed many.
