Several heads and a shaft and a few other bits and pieces. I have spent more on parts than what I spent on it new.
Buy a stihl or an echo.

I have a 327pt5s that I bought new, and have been happy with it, but am unsure how the build quality has changed compared to the 525pt5s.

Arnt the trees in OZ made of iron? I just hate the D handle on the echo. I was thinking about something other then the sthil...

Thanks for your input!

Do you use it much? I think, I still can get a 327.

I was under the impression that the new one is just a strato engine, and all the other stuff was the same as the 327... I guess I would need the IPL to do a comparo.

I've used it a fair amount on Apricot, Aspen, Juniper Cedar, scrub Oak, and Chinese Elm. It has been a good unit, and I haven't had to replace anything other than a couple chains.

I'd be curious to know the "what" and "how" @weedkilla had issues with?

I've got a broken head somewhere, I'll take some pics one day soon.
The broken drive shaft seemed totally random, the broken heads were all bad luck/bad technique and the bar getting twisted or hit as a branch fell.
I don't doubt others may have better results, but the head on every other pole saw is a lot more sturdy and doesn't turn a small  into a $300aud bill.
I just think there are better built options for the $.

Could you get years of trouble free service? Sure. That doesn't make it anywhere near best in class, or best value for money.

It is the worst piece of equipment I've owned. In a small business with a few employees doing a mix of tree work, agricultural and environmental contracting that is a fair achievement.

Ok. Maybe worst is pushing it, there are a couple of contenders for most consistent headache producers, but they weren't ope.

So it sounds like it is the worst piece of equipment......with the worst luck?

Before I bought my 327, I rented an Echo commercial unit, and didn't care for the way it was laid out, and at maximum reach it felt like a caber from the Highland Games. Then I had about a 3" Apricot branch swing around on me, and actually dent the aluminum upper section. Kinda weird that something could feel so ungainly, and yet be so flimsy in durability.

I suppose since my Husqvarna dealer gives me an automatic 20% off all new equipment, that may have influenced my decision to buy, too.

I was given one brand new off the shelf to demo and liked everything about it but my 131 is really not much heavier and has way more power. The extension of the Husqvarna was way easier than Stihl as it is spring assisted. I do agree the head on the Stihl is built a little better but I didn't see any problem with the Husqvarna.
