As the title states, Husky 480CD with a full wrap handle for sale. I rescued this relic from my neighbors pile of junk destined for the scrap yard. Complete running saw. Does not appear to have ever had a chain brake but the clutch cover has posts cast into it like it could have had a brake band. It's orange, and heavy. That the extent of my knowledge on this series of saw.

It does start and run (decent actually) but it does have some scuffing on the piston. Not bad enough to stick a ring or anything. Still pulls over with a thump. I really wasn't expecting to find any scuffing when I pulled the muffler to check but I'm glad I did. It looks much worse in the pic than it is. Not deep scores, just scuffs really. Muffler is in excellent condition. Fuel tank does not leak but appears to have been previously sealed with some type of sealer visible through the full cap. Couldn't get a good pic though. Choke, throttle lock, and kill switch all work. The whole saw is actually in pretty darn nice shape considering its age.

Make an offer. I don't even know where to start.

Nice looking machine. Any idea if another more modern piston/cylinder bolt on?

Not a clue. I doubt the jug is hurt based on all the worse the piston is, but idk if the piston is salvageable or if any replacements are available.

That's one of the nicer 480s I've ever seen, other than the scoring. Unfortunately there's only the 280CD/380/480 in that family and the 480 top end is probably the best of that bunch. The 285/298/1100/2100/2101 use a different crank with a longer stroke and different case so not a lot of parts are compatible between the two families.

As nice as it is, I would think some clean up, along with new rings, and seals would get it dialed in.

That’s a cool saw. I wouldn’t even know where to start on an offer either. I usually end up on the low side [emoji58]. If only i had enough to make a decent. Glws!

Thanks JJ, what are these line 77cc?

Shure would look nice next to my 285, 298 and 2100's.

Yes @77cc and they make their power in a lower RPM range than more modern saws but they run good. They were very popular here for years as a landing saw because they were a lot cheaper than the 1100/298/285.

It's a nice specimen- I hope you end up with it.

Saw received. Packaged well and as described. Can't wait to get it in proper condition. It will eventually go to work. The full wrap on it feels good, can't wait to fall some trees with it.
