So, as the metal bearing cover is NLA and the plastic ones are leaking like hell due heat warping.

Solution is simple.

Just replace the flywheel side mainbearing with 503252501/525434201 etc. Like used in 346xp/353/550xp/560xp/562xp

Those washers are for installing the bearing in place.
And moment later...

And then:
Grind/Mill the plastic cover flat.

And reuse the cover, otherwise you will have even worse leakage then before.

May be a dumb question, but has anyone tried a shielded 6202 bearing, like a Nachi, and removed the inner shield only?

Just wondering if the small amount of air leak around the shield would be small enough to be tuned out or not. The shields have a very tight fit and finish, and the part on the outer bearing race could be easily smeared with sealant for increased sealing in that portion.

Very interesting. So are you still using the oring like they use on the clutch side seal holder?

O-ring is not necessary, after flattening the cover it (O-ring) does not fit anyway. Cover itself is needed because it stops the bearing coming out of the crankcase.

I used a Nachi yesterday. There is no way that the shielding wouldnt leak like a sieve.
