Husky 550 piston clips versions?

Working with one 550 xpg, straight gas scored, it's an 2013.
Piston clips, one had ear the other side not.
Somehow I also have one 2011, it has no clips ear.

I dont care about the 2011 model, totally blown, but the 2013 is a builder.

Here is the question, did they have different versions of piston clips or do I actually miss a part? It's kinda vital part if it's hidden in the crankhouse lol

The 562 was that way. They're starting to make them with one of each. I thought it was weird myself. I prefer the ones with ears big time

i was a nerveous wreck when I took off the piston today, now I can calm down knowing my crank area is nice and clean.
Back in 11, did they use one of each or did they use no ear clip?

Don't know about that far back. Seen inside 3 562 that are like that. 2013 -2016

I do that on my rebuilds and I put the clip with the ear on the flywheel side as that side stays cooler. I use new OEM Husqvarna clips.

Some of the aftermarket clips with the double ears aren't tempered and the heat combined with the movement is what causes them to pop out.

I don't use the Meteor clips but that's just my personal preference. I think a lot of guys here use them and they've worked fine.
