Well first one of these I've worked on. The owner broke off part of the crankshaft on the clutch side. He brought me the saw and I ordered a crank shaft from HLS well broke the saw down this evening and when I went to look at the new crankshaft it's completely different the OEM one had an actual flywheel key that was in the crank and the shaft was a different size on the flywheel side. So the flywheel will not fit the new shaft and the retaining nut for the flywheel on the OEM one is much larger. So I guess at this point my question is how do I get the crank, flywheel, retaining nut all together as I don't see them sold anywhere. Or how do I get a replacement original crankshaft for a fair price ?

Well I would but I kinda messed it up. I don't mind buying another do they still make the one with the bigger flywheel side like the OEM one in the first pic ?

Worst case scenario, after you hear back from them is to post a "want to buy" add here, I'm sure someone has a OEM laying around.

I “think “ so. They also had coarse vs fine threaded clutches around that era. Not totally certain if all coarse threaded cranks were the old style and fine threaded were the new style or not.
@Spike60 and @afleetcommand will know

Old style cranks went with 2 piece coils. New style have the one piece coil. The very last 266's off the line were built with 268 cases and one piece coils to finish up the run and are rare to find. Not only is the flywheel nut different, if not mistaken the clutch threads are different as well. The very first 272's had the 268 cranks in them and changed after a certain serial number break, not sure if the 268 followed suit or not. Might be best if you have the serial number we can look up the correct one for your saw and you can match a AM to that number.

Old cranks were 1/2 -13 reverse on the clutches new ones m10x1 reverse . They went to the m10x1 before they were done selling two coil case saws. I did a video years back on that along with the different flywheels based on taper & ignition types. I'll see if I can find it. I had to make the 1/2 -13 pullers too for that project.

Once you get into the fine thread clutches, they are all the same thread. Only the early coarse thread crank is different. The fine thread crank shows up first in the 4-86 266 IPl, with the change taking place with serial # 266XP 6024957, 266XPG 6080640.

Unless you actually have seen a single coil 266, and can prove existence of such an animal, I can say that no IPL supports that existing, and I have had saws as new as 1997 across the bench(Slovenian built.) They switched to the crank seal pressing in the case on the flywheel side at some point, but they stayed dual coil until the end. I did have a 1992 Tomos built saw not too long ago that had a brass oil pump drive gear. If anyone finds a part number, or a source, let me know.

As far as the flywheel side of the crank, I have ran across the dual coil style, early single coil, which is the same taper with the keyway in a different spot, and the late 268/272 style which is a smaller taper and flywheel nut. I believe you could use the late crank in a 268, provided you have the proper flywheel, which if memory serves, will interchange with the 372.

Well, with a bit of digging I found that crankshaft # 501777001 no longer exists in Husqvarna's database.
When we get to the 1997 IPL we get a clue that the break is up to serial number 4261951 which your case definitely falls under. It calls for part number 503613371 which is current and replaces part number 501528402. Which is the number( 503613371) your AM crank is supposed to replace.
