Getting the trigger and operator presence lever spring back in was my hardest part.

There is a few things you miss out in your video....

First you always secure the wiring from rear heat element to front handle, it's vital on every XPG and its best to get it done while your tank and crankcase are seperated.
On 372, if you study the tank where the 2 screws for front handle bar is, you'll see there is a channel and attacment spot for the wire, goes almost to the center of the tank.
This goes for pretty much all 3xx xpg serie saws.

372/362XPG from factory also has plastic wrapped around the front handle from the front handle wire down to almost where the wire split and go to the tank, it doesnt last so long but it prevent wire vibration who is nice to use anyway.

Did you have to buy a different fly wheel for the generator to go under?

I just got a 2171 with heat off bay for $300, pretty excited to run it when it gets cold out again. The one wire that goes from the switch under the tank had a bare spot rubbed so i put a long piece of heat shrink on it

I've got a 385 heated case. Several stripped bolt holes. I need to look in the flywheels that came with them to see if one is for it.

I think most XPG's would get less wire issue if we used a dot glue here and there to keep the wires more secured on the places we want them to be.
Most of the times I see G issues is kinda things that Husky could had done better, first 1 cm from the generator, first 4 cm from front handle bar, those places has been the weak spot on those last 20 XPG's I've had.

I stopped by the dealer today and ordered the front heated handle for my 372.
It was $53.66, I didn't think that was to bad.
I've never checked the prices in Norway, but I would been super happy if we had same price in Norway.
I checked price on partstree, 346 was extremely cheap, 357 was around 372 in price.
The most expensive part is the flywheel as I couild see.

Wasn't this the saw Matt you said you sold for a G-note at the GTG? Something about you offered it to a tree guy and he didn't bat an eye to snatch it up?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but does anybody know how to test the thermostat that mounts to the bottom of the carb with red wires in the photo above? I've looked through all the shop manuals and could not find a reference to this feature. The foil heater I get - measure its resistance but what are good values? The thermostat I have measures about 3 megohm regardless of whether it is in a freezer or at room temperature. Is the thermostat a simple bi-metal switch or is it a thermistor that varies its resistance with temperature?

Thanks for the help.

I’d be curious to a rough cost guesstimate (and part numbers) to acquire all necessary parts for the conversion if anyone might have this info handy

priced it out for a 2172 with no carb heating, so all parts should be the same except for the handle. Looks like a $500 date or so with the flywheel, generator and handle being the big ticket items:
