Homemade pickaroon.

So I really wanted to try one of these but nobody locally carried any. Well except one shop but I didn't like it.
So I grabbed some scrap steel and an old handle.
Over the process I realized that not all hook designs worked as well as some.
Some would stick so well that I couldn't get them to release. Others wouldn't estick for nothing.
So after some trial and error and came up with this. It sticks elm, hickory and oak. So far I am pleased.

I think I will add a bolt through the sleeve.

Great work, I am in the same position as you were. Going to have to find some material to make one now. Thanks for the inspiration.

Forgot to mention that I would put the bolt through the sleeve, just for added peace of mind.

This is my pickeroon I made, I used a f350 rear axle u bolt I cut a junky axe head in half and welded it up. It works like a champ.

I made this one, havent tried it yet, hollow pipe and chunck of planer blade.

That looks awesome, should fill the pipe with some silicone just like a Fiskars Isocore. .
