Last used my 028 super about 3 months ago been sitting ever since. Went to use it today and couldn’t get it started. Being sort of new to this. Is this common after a saw sits for a while. Has good compression just can’t get it to pop. Any ideas?

It can be. It the choke flap engaging (it’s in the air filter)?

Try a few drops of mix down the carb bore with the AF off, see if it starts and stays running.

My 038 can sit for a 3 months and take 20 pulls to fire. My 026 can sit 3 months and take 5 pulls. Same choke set up. Maybe just nature of the beast.

Could also be due for carb kit or choke flap not sealing very well.

Wow, really.
Five pulls gets me pissed.
Ten and it goes to the bench.
Twenty and it goes off a cliff. Ymmv

Fuel like they said ^

I have Poolon with tooless chain adjust that is hard to start and needs fiddlin with everytime it is used.
Carb kit was put in it and it ran great for about a month then it started need attention everytime it was abused.
It went to the curb last week. It is still there nobody wants it i guess.

Hammers cure all ills.

The 028 Super is a good saw when you get it fixed and running. Look at it this way. To replace it with a new Stihl saw that outperforms it would cost you over $500. I've fixed and sold about a half dozen of them and kept one for myself.

I run high test e free. Dont have fuel long enough to go bad. I figure maybe the air filter flap. New carb kit for the 038 isnover 50 bucks for the bing.

I will have to count next time it sits for a while. I may have exagerated a little but it feels like it.

I cleaned it up for the Pic. Nowadays it's covered with lots of stuff -- tools, parts, bottles, rags, and Lord knows what else. What we need is a tool nurse like what the surgeons have in hospitals as they operate on patients. I haven't been able to get LOML to play that role very often.
