I have both gen. 4 and 5 19's and the 5 is just an awesome pistol. I really can't think of anything I would change about it. Interestingly, the OEM barrel eats up lead bullets no problemo. Mine is apparently a very early gen. 5 with no forward serrations (which I don't like anyway) and the half moon cutout on the bottom of the grip.

Have you fired your 22 yet? I wonder if the heavier slide dampens the muzzle jump any. I have a gen. 3 22 which I Frankensteined out of used parts from Fleabay and Gunbroker. It is set up for cast bullets with a throated LWD barrel. 3.5 grains Clays under a 175 grain truncated cone duplicates .38-40 or .44 Special power level and is quite accurate.

Yes, i put 150 through it the day i bought it. The heavier slide cuts the recoil down nicely. Its no worse than +p 9mm.

I have a Gen 5 19 too, as well as a 42 and 48.

I’m interested in how well the 47 is gonna sell.

The original shield is by far the most popular carry gun in my area I've ever seen they have been excellent
Most of my friends that carry had them.
This new version is just slightly larger in the grip of course it makes more comfortable I think
And the flat face trigger really sells it to me personally
View attachment 363353
I never liked the hinged triggers either
But the 2.0 versions are so good I'll never change them
I've shot a sig 365 and a hellcat I prefer the gx4 and shield they are my favorites
That gx4 has 5-600 through it no failure's
I bought another one I liked it so much
They were only 265.00 for the taurus
and the smith was 400.00
To me the trigger and grip texture are the biggest selling point, but the added capacity and still fitting the holsters I have is pretty a awesome perk! Thanks for your feedback! I think if I can find one I will pick up the 4" Shield Plus.

I'm about done with polymer centerfire pistols I've had my different manufacturers over the year's
The only one I haven't had that I like is the CZ line I shot several of them they really fit my hands.DSC072393.jpg
After I sell some glocks off I'll looking at the tisas stingray and Yukon 10mm
I've got a couple tisas they have been great accurate and no issues.IMG_20230117_152050646_HDR.jpg

What’s your beef with the polymers ?

What breeds of polymers have you used ?

Most of you gents shoot more than I do so just curious.

I'm set for life on pistols lol
Just tired of the expense of outfitting each different brand with ever increasing mag and holster prices
Even the most inexpensive pistol lines usually has 50.00+ per mag if you can even find them for example my friends bought 200.00 stoeger pistols that came with one mag and couldn't find any mags anywhere at the time I don't know about now same with the canik line great pistols hard to find affordable mags sometimes.
I have a bunch of my favorite the m&p series 9mm and .40 mags
as well as bunch of glock .40 23 and .45 30s mags so I'm keeping those.
There's probably a hundred different manufacturers and varietys of actions of polymer pistols just at my local gunstore
I've got all I'll ever shoot micro, compact and fullsize versions
In 1911 the only thing I want is a aluminum framed commander version
And in hi power clones I'll get a girsan eventually.

Oh i have steel frame CZsView attachment 363370
I bought this cz75sa in 1994 they were 300.00 new back then
I also bought a cz75 sa .40 version a month later
This is probably the most accurate 9mm I've ever shot with about any ammo weight.

Mine is the 75D PCR. Double action decocker alloy frame. Same with the accuracy. I can shoot way more consistent with this pistol over any other 9mm I've shot or owned. The ergonomics of the grip is perfect. This is my edc pistol most of the time. Have about 1000 rounds total of everything you can imagin through it and no problems. I have a special needs son that is constantly trying to hang on me and carrying this hammer down with a 12+lb trigger pull is comforting to me. It's about 6 lbs decocked and 3ish hammer back.

Check out the Springfield SA-35 if you encounter one. It's all steel and made in the USA for less than a typical used Browning. It's on my list for sure. I would definitely be interested in the Girsan but you never see them around here.

A 15 round mag for my FNX was around $56, it came with 10 round mags. I got a 20 round Promag ( iirc) for $28. I should of got the tactical fnx but didn’t want to spend the extra $$$, maybe down the road I will acquire a tactical.

I am going to see if I can cut the indentations out of the 10rounders & make them 15 rounds. They appear to be the same springs just the stamped spot on the mag is different.

I was able to increase capacity on my browning hi power .40
When the Brady bill passed in 94 and died in 04
all I had to do was grind a spot off the inside of the mag body
Then I had a whopping 12rnds instead of 10

Mine have stamped dimples on both sides. I am going to try to grind them off & see if the spring catches or have a buddy cut them out & try to braze or weld a plug in there. Probably a waste of time but I will give it a whirl.

Need pictures of the mag. I had a few mags for a p95 that were dimpled 10rnd. I clamped a chunk of square stock in the vice and used a auto body hammer and propane torch to heat & smack them out.

Don't have the p95 or mags anymore. But it was a simple and easy fix to gain 5rnd.

Yes they would be helpful, I just fogotted…

I actually talked to my son about the heating & block method but forgotted to mention that also.

Here's my favorite range/carry pistolsIMG_20230201_145002631_HDR.jpg
I'm really happy with all these
When I'm shooting with inexperienced people the gx4 in particular is harder to control then the shield plus
Just about everyone seems to favor the m&p compact and Glock 19/23 size for comfort and accuracy.

Dressed up the gen 4 with some grips from Handleitgrips. Also got 'em on my 42.
