So, I think I learned something today. Right after work I decided to finish sighting in my Rossi 92 .357 lever action at 80 yards with 7.8 grains Accurate #5, Lee 358-125-RF lead slug, and Federal SPM primers. This load has been very accurate in the 92 previously and also in my Marlin 1894. First few groups were really close, just needs a little more adjustment down. Next few groups were all over the place.

Ok, the gun and ammo did not suddenly change in 20 minutes of shooting and the barrel was still cold. So I start racking my brain as to what did change. Then, looking through the sights it suddenly hit me like the moment Columbo solves the case. The light had faded just barely enough to where the bullseye on the target went from being a neat black box to a gray patch with indistinct borders, and I really couldn't tell where it was in relation to the front sight. Just that little bit of reduced light was all it took.

I guess that explains why I missed a big doe broadside at 50 yards (twice!) during rifle season with my receiver sight equipped Winchester 94. It was about the same time too, around 5pm. And this is where even a small and low power scope makes the difference, much better aiming in dim light. The second biggest buck I ever took was with one shot from my 336 with a little straight tube 4x Leupold, in the same place in the woods and even darker. The scope provided just enough extra light to make a good shot.

I would like to get a G 45 Gen 6 after the rush.
I Have never really been a fan of glocks, aside from the reliability and interchangability stand point.... the grip angle is all wrong for my wrists, just like a ruger....LOL hence why i got the Gforce rapture, because its glock compatible upper but 1911esque grip angle, with actual stippling and interchangable backstraps that feel nice, all packed into a g26 size subcompact....

Yeah, I got an e-mail from Glock with pics of the gen. 6. My gen. 5 19 is a fantastic pistol and eats lead bullets all day long with excellent accuracy. Hopefully the gen. 6 will be just as good. I really hope they keep the 42 going. It is the best .380 I've ever tried. I feed mine Makarov level homebrew loads and it will out shoot many full size pistols.

I offered to get my older sister a .380 the g2c is a little hard for her to handle at her age
I'm look at the Ruger amd smith .380s
Mainly
She wants a thumb safety.

I agree the grip angle is different, but Glock has sold millions of pistols so folks must get used to them. If I can't adapt to Glock, I'll sell or trade it off.

Thumb safety? Like backstrap or like 1911 safety? Me personally, i would prefer as minimal a safety as possible for a carry pistol, like a trigger dingus... its there when you dont want it to go bang, but completely "invincible" when you are in a high stress situation. Pull trigger and boom... no thoughts of having to remove safety....

For me its not about adapting, its that theres other options that naturally fall perfectly sighted level in my hand... one less thing to think about LOL

From the factory, the Glock 42 has a pretty heavy trigger pull that even my big macho fingers don't like. Install the Ghost Edge connector, and it becomes a really smooth and not terribly heavy or light double action pull. Safe as a DAO revolver, I've been carrying the 42 for probably 15 years and put thousands of rounds through it.

So this little turd followed me home today for $110.00 total. Hi-Point CF-380, I can't explain why but I've always wanted one. I've read that they actually shoot really well and Hi Point will warranty their guns no matter what. I imagine it should do well with the homebrew Makarov level loads I feed my Glock 42.

Giving the CF-380 a good cleaning, I really doubt this thing has more than a couple boxes of shells through it. Nearly all the black finish is still on the barrel and that usually wears quickly from the slide reciprocating. Hopefully I can take it for a quick test drive before work tomorrow.

Fellas, the cheap and ugly gun is a real shooter! I tried it out before work today with 3.2 grains Titegroup and 100 grain lead slug, a Makarov level load I use in my Glock 42's. She has not trouble keeping a full mag of 8 in one hole at 12 yards without even trying hard. Function was 100%, no doubt helped by the energetic ammo. This load has noticeable muzzle jump and recoil in the Glock 42 but is a powder puff in the brick like Hi-Point. Yeah, best $110.00 I ever spent!

Well, when it rains it pours. I put in a minimum bid on a very nice looking Hi Point C9 on Gunbroker and nobody else bid so I got it for fifty bux and free shipping. My dealer charges 10.00 for transfers so I will have a grand total of $63.35 in it. What can I say, I love cheap things that work well!
