Looking forward to pics. No stock sets here, sorry. In the meantime you may want to experiment with painting the synthetic stock. Krylon Fusion works really well on them.

I can't paint it. Just can't do it. Once I get a wood stock I'll be selling the composite one.

So today I went through the 336. Removed the silly stainless painted black with a brush rings and put some standard rings on the rail. Really wasn't that bad but any rust on a gun it not good. Nothing a quick once over with steel wool couldn't polish out.

Other than missing the original wood, that looks like a really nice pre-safety 336. You planning to keep it?

Do you reload .30-30? I can share some brass and bullets if you need them.

I don't reload but I have a real close friend that is a master at reloading. He is setting me up. We are good right now but I may hit you up later. :)

Both of my Marlins are super accurate with 30-31 grains IMR 4064 and a 150 grain Sierra Pro Hunter. Although I've never found a load that wouldn't shoot decently enough. Don't overlook lead bullets in this cartridge either, the Lee C309-170-Rf sized to .310 at around 1800 fps is a dandy and waaayyyy cheaper to shoot than jacketed.

My friend can cast his own bullets for target shooting and I may have him load me some of those too. Mainly need to sight this in and go after some coyotes! Damn things walk around us almost in handgun range!

Very accurate though.

Those Scorpions are sweet, we have had a few of them at the shop. If I had one, I would probably go ahead and start the process for an SBR stamp so I don't have to worry about the magic 8 ball that constantly gives different answers on whether the brace is a stock.

I have a pawn shop rescue 1985 Winchester 94 .30-30. I'm getting light strikes about 10% of the time and some vertical stringing that I think is related. Cases are full length sized and the primer pockets reamed and uniformed. Same ammo shoots great in my Marlins.

I went ahead and ordered a new factory hammer spring from Midwest Gun Works. I suppose I'll also try very slightly shortening the lower rebound leg of the hammer spring guide, as this is a known problem in these rifles. Always sumthin!
