Usually so. I use a grinder and dremel stones to do some of it.Do you just use a round file to hog off unneeded material to get it down to final size?
was afraid to ask, I can only publicly admit so much ignorance in any one dayEnlighten me on a halo from a bore cut. Lil' ring chips?
Stupid autocorrect on the phone. Supposed to say helps. If you roll a chain around the nose the heel will push back on it. You clip the heel it's way easier to bore into a log.Enlighten me on a halo from a bore cut. Lil' ring chips?
It really looks that way. Played with some square filing yesterday...seemed to make quite a difference just doing that. After doing more research on "more race" chains, I figured why not?? I'll get a few loops to switch back and forth to play with. There's big gains in chain. You can get close to ported saws with stock ones with the right chain setup.
Just to sharpen less than 10 minutes. The one above is 60 dl and took 5 -7 hours of time. Been working at it all week from time to time.It really looks that way. How much time do you usually put into a decent loop..say 25"?
