Front house door

Our front door is coming apart at the other section where it’s hooks to hinges. Would buying some clamps pull it back together? I was going to add some more glue before putting in clamps and countersinking some small nails after (if) I can get the door to pull back together

Any help would be awesome

What kind of wood is it ?

For most wood, Elmers Carpenters glue works great !

Bigger question is what caused the failure to begin with.
Water must be making contact with the door...
One thought (or recommendation) is to make sure a well sealed, storm door is in place.
Then the repairs will stay repaired if the door is not damaged to badly.

Clamps should draw it together, however if the glue failed, it may need to be pulled apart first, and new glue applied to the entire surface, than reassembled. Otherwise it may just be a surface application which wont Last. But pics will help. A door should not need a storm door to last if it is properly maintained. It needs to be sealed on all 6 sides to last.

If it's the hinge plate coming apart on a wooden door nails would not be much help .Screws could prolong the inevitable meaning replacing the door .It's usually not a big deal to replace a prehung door,couple hours more or less .Not however a job best done in the dead of winter .It will warm up some day or at least it always has in the past .

I believe Tite-Bond 2 is exterior rated. Its what I use for everything.

OP as previously stated we need pics but typically glue and screw is the way to go.

Wood front doors that fail are going t be a challenge to save especially when you describe the door as coming "apart" If it was a solid wood door the only place it could come apart is a mortise and tendon joint, and in that case the best way to fix the door is to drill holes through the loos tendon and insert dowel rods to reaffix the joint. If this is not a solid wood door there probably is no good fix. If you want a permanent fix, buy a new wood and have them use the old door as a template to drill the knob, lock and hinge mortises. other option is to buy a complete door and frame, metal doors seem to last longer as wood is 40 percent weaker today than it was 50 years ago due to tree farming.
