High Quality Chainsaw Bars Husqvarna Toys Hockfire Saws

finally decided to pull it out and measure it

and this proves

  • nothing

  • early 064 and 066 are the most badassest of them all

  • dave is daft

  • science is a lie

  • all the world's a stage and we are merely players, performers and portrayers

  • everyone should tear apart all of their MS660s and fill the crankcases with tranny fluid

  • not that kind of tranny fluid you weirdo

  • bacon

Got tired of wondering about the 064/066/660 case volume question, so I went all scientific with the graduated cylinders and whatnot.

I only used the 1122 series complete crankcases with cranks installed that I had on hand.
All crankcases rinsed with 6 month old 2 cycle mixed gas until clean.
Crankcases leveled and filled with measured amount of ATF until full to the same point.

early oval plug, flat top pto side 064 serial x169 held 80ml
early oval plug, big bearing 066 serial x443 held 86ml
late no plug, big bearing 066 serial x614 held 92ml
early oval plug small bearing 066 serial x245 held 76ml
late oval slope top pto side 064 serial x202 held 76ml
late no plug, big bearing 066 serial x642 held 92ml

in summary from smallest CC volume to largest
76ml - TIE early small bearing 066 and late 064
80ml - early 064
86ml - early big bearing 066
92ml - TIE both late big bearing 066

Anybody got a nice MS660 PHO that needs a new piston?
Mail it to me I will tear it down, fill it with red kool aid and then put a new OEM piston on it, check the squish ( gasket delete if you wish) and send it back to you.

Is the burning sensation normal when using atf to measure your weanis? Maybe I misunderstood something! ;)
nicely done sir !!!!!!
a certain amount of discomfort is to be expected when measuring internal volume, I am hoping you didn't rip the head off first like I did with the chainsaws

I got one. Lol
you have my address, heck if you prefer to reassemble it your self I will cover shipping both ways and send ya the new piston back with the saw, heck as long as you are positive ( we can check serial number to be sure) that it is a 660 and not a 66, I could just use the complete crankcase (with crank installed) to measure the case volume.
I am going to pull the built 1122s down from the shelf tomorrow and see which versions I have up there as ported runners, but I am positive they are all 064 and early 066.
