fiberglass techs

i was trying to fiberglass a burnt hole and some ruff section on a 3 wheel scag mower plastic tank. the frist attempt popped loose that was covering a burnt hole . the other 3 are holding and are sanding nice. i will mention that it was cold outside when i did the first patch over the hole, did this cause the patch to pop loose from one side? I sanded and acetone before applying fiberglass. any help would be greatly appreciated
