Considering the Echo CS 590. Opinions anyone?
They seem to be a solid saw, but what is the main use for it? Firewood? Let everyone know the intended use and how much, and you will get better advice.

Looking to buy a saw for my son-in-law. Occasional use, storm cleanup, etc. He's young, strong, and smart, but not, at this point, a big saw afficianado like most of us. Doesn't need a $1200 saw, just a dependable all around saw to get that tree out of the yard, etc. Thanks for your replys.

Echo 590 Timberwolf is a fine saw. Plenty of power to run a 24” bar if need be. Several threads in here on the 590’s…lots of folks get away with a good muffler mod, re-tune and it’s ready to rock & roll. Will be plenty of saw for him in the future.

I’ve never owned one but have ran a couple…damn good 60cc saws for the money.

Best all around saw for the money in my opinion. Not too heavy, and strong enough to handle any normal sized job. Just know you may have to remove the red carb limiter caps and retune the carb. I think the low speed is the only thing I've found too lean on them. 3/4 turn on the high is a good start, 1-3/4 turn on the low.

Great saws I actually bought 2
And only ever needed to use the first one
I ran it 7 years
No issue's at all
I cut a lot of firewood with it.
Just a muffler mod and retune
Only sold them to standardize my bars
To d009
I ran 24" bar's in pine it's slower in hardwood but will cut it.

The 590 is a solid saw and a great value for the money.

.... but my tastes kinda run toward the 620. Same engine as the 590, just ported/timed differently ... metal roll handle .. metal clutch cover ... rim sprocket, not spur ... way more comfortable wearing a 24" ... you get the idea.

As @Nutball and @Czed said, best saw for the money. I love mine. Only single complaint I have is that it’s not conducive for noodling. The holes in the recoil cover are quite a bit larger than other saws and suck in a large number of chips. These chips can then be lodged in the fins of the cylinder and catch fire. Ask me how I know! :babeando: Lots of scrambling that day to the chips.

A tree service company brought in two of them for me to restore. They like them better than the Stihl Farm Boss. One was missing two of the muffler bolts that fasten to the frame. It still held on tight but I replaced those. The other was missing the side plate on the clutch cover. It still ran OK but I replaced it. Both saws still had good power. Considering the torture these guys give all their saws, I was favorably impressed with the CS-590.

To answer your question directly, yes this saw is more than capable of handling what you describe. Just as its Stihl and Husqvarna counterparts will. Also as previously mentioned if a little more power would be desired for later, buy the 620 now, spend that extra money and run the better saw now and later.
