Ok boys and girls. I have a good one for you. Dear friend of mine has had this saw since new. About 4-5 years ago it started smoking real bad while running. He called me and I told him to check the bar oil level. He said it was using bar oil like crazy. Anyway, I told him the case gasket might be leaking causing it stuck bar oil in. So… he tore it apart as far as he could.

Fast forward to this week… I am visiting him in Idaho, where he lives. I live in Oregon. I see that old echo orange in a box under the bench. I say to him,” I am taking that saw home with me”.

I wouldn't get befuddled about it .Get an illustrated parts list and put it back together .I know exactly nothing about this model ,never even seen one but somebody does .Do a little research, you'll do just fine .:)

‘O’ rings on the oil pump gone bad/hard will cause the engine to suck bar oil.

Ive had a couple Echo 750’s.

Oil pump adjustment is near an art form. [emoji58]

Thank you all for the good info. I have never really messed with this era of echo before other than some minor things. Looking at the ipl, the oil pump o-rings are definitely a suspect

Lots of old parts two. I feel like there are almost enough parts to build two of these things

Some nice exhaust flange damage one one cylinder. Pistons have some lower skirt wear. Guess I will measure them. I do have an new old aftermarket piston. image.jpg
