given a Poulan 4218axv from a friend who didn't want/need it, and i needed a replacement saw it's fine for my needs at most once a year. I think it was used once then put back in its box, had to pull carb apart and blow out since it would not run more than 1-2 seconds, I now have adjusted and idling & running good.
but this carb on it, has a flange on front of carb which has what looks like a mechanical secondary on top of the carb... where only at 50% or more throttle does the mechanical linkage open the upper butterfly to let air thru into the intake. Is anyone familiar or knowledgeable about this, and could elaborate on what this Frankenstein setup is and why?
