I have a Dolmar ps510 that has me completely baffled. Saw has 160 psi of compression. Excellent spark. A new OEM carburetor and it refuses to run! I get a tiny little pop occasionally on full choke then nothing. I checked the flywheel and key, everything looks fine. I pulled the intake to check for leaks and the impulse line. I've let it sit for days without a plug and dried it out too. Even with leaking crank seals some saws will still start up.

Put a brand new plug in it. Even if the plug in it is brand new.

Did you actually check spark in a darker room?
Check your On/Off switch?

Yes. I normally turn the light off in the shop to see the spark. The spark is really strong. I have a vac/pressure tester. You think a leak could be causing this?

If it's big enough, yes. Let's start there.

Iirc @JohnnyBlade had one giving him the same trouble.

Have you tried starting it with no choke? I know the Dolmars I've had in this size love to "pop" quick and quietly leaving me to flood the crap out of them.

I did the vac and pressure test today. On the vac the needle never moved. I did find a small leak on pressure where the impulse line meets the carb. I tightened the carb mounting screws and it went away. I reassembled everything and put a little threebond on the impulse seating area. Once it dries I'll try to start it again.

Ok. With everything sealed up now it's making a distinct pop from the muffler. Not a good sound like it wants to start. More of a cough. Now I'm serious wondering about a timing issue.Huskihl. You may be right. I am going to need to see if I can verify if this is the correct flywheel.

Possibly the wrong coil/flywheel combo
I have the flywheel off and I can't find a part number anywhere on it to verify it. Definitely looks correct from comparing to pictures.
